Our Sustainable, Handmade Kantha Throws
Our Kantha throws are handmade in India from vintage saris which have been sewn together using traditional Kantha stitching.
"Kantha" refers to both the style of running stitch, as well as the finished cloth and are a symbol of history, family, strength and ingenuity.
It is a sustainable approach to reuse old fabric, giving it a second life by layering and using the running, Kantha stitch, to bind it. Many are also embroidered and block printed, creating beautiful pieces of art that can be used as a bed throw, sofa blanket, curtains, upholstery, cushions or even a wall hanging.
I love sourcing these vintage textiles which are full of history and speak of journeys and people. I choose all the Kantha for Constance and Denny, selecting colours, compositions and embroidery, which I know will spark joy.
